Advent 2020 Giving Project
During our Advent series, Born in Us, McIvor Church will focus on the theme of pregnancy, reflecting on how it is that God enters the world. As we do this, we want to partner with God’s work with young families in our city. Youth For Christ in downtown Winnipeg has developed an impactful ministry with many young families, and we want to gather supplies and support for this ongoing work.
We invite you to drop off the following items at the church office (200 McIvor Avenue) throughout the month of December:
- Diapers (increased need for Pampers, size 4-6)
- Gift cards or donations to be used to purchase diapers & formula
- Kids clothing (increased need for girls, ages 2+)
Here is some more information on the vision of YFC’s Young Parent’s Program:
“The Young Parents Program, part of YFC Winnipeg, seeks to build a safe, engaging and transformative community with young parents and families. We believe that caring, supportive relationships are key to developing resilience and strong families, and so we commit to walking with them on their journey. We do this through Engaging with them at community nights; Encouraging them through mentoring relationships; Equipping them with life skills, parenting classes, and activity kits to help them interact with their children; and by empowering them to make healthy and life honouring choices through modelling lives that follow Jesus and speaking of the hope and salvation of Jesus that is available to them.”
Donating Supplies for Madison House
McIvor Church hosts an annual Christmas party for the residents of Madison House, a local home for individuals at risk of being homeless. At the party, we distribute a gift bag for each of the 80 residents. While the party will look different this year due to COVID restrictions, we still want to bless these individuals in the midst of a particularly challenging season.
We are looking for donations of items to fill these gift bags. Any contribution you can provide will help us make a difference in the lives of these often forgotten individuals in our community.
We encourage you to drop off any of the following items at the church prior to December 5th:
- Monetary donations to buy more supplies
