Life Groups

At McIvor we believe that change happens best in a context where you can be known authentically and where you share your spiritual journey with others. A small, caring group is one of the best places to do that. It's here that you can develop rich relationships and build meaning into your life through mutual sharing and support.

Life Groups are the primary caring and ministry vehicle at McIvor. Community is built whenever people gather over common interests, friendships, needs, hobbies, projects, goals or study. To do this life groups come in a variety of shapes, providing you with the opportunity to love, learn, serve, reach out and grow.

  • Care Groups are small, mini-communities of people who provide support to one another and encourage each other in their walk with Jesus. Care Groups gather to demonstrate God's love, apply God's word, pray, participate in service, and extend Christian faith to the broader community.

  • Interest Groups gather over common interests or projects and draw close as they pursue common goals (eg. Habitat for Humanity build, short term mission trip).

  • Serving Groups join together and willingly take on tasks or ministries in the church and in the broader community (eg. Secret Place Ministry, Winnipeg Harvest food distribution depot).

  • Study Group gathers together to study a book, topic, and/or the Bible and apply biblical principals to daily life. These groups function both in homes as well as occasional larger study groups in the church facility.

  • Faith Exploration Group gathers to consider the claims of Jesus Christ related to a topic or common interest (eg. Alpha, or Alpha Marriage).

  • Youth Groups: Junior and Senior High youth groups and a Young Adult group meet on a regular basis. The Junior and Senior High groups are also subdivided into smaller fellowship groups for purposes of study, fellowship and service. (Youth page)

The McIvor Church Life Groups are largely self-directed, but we do have a coordinator that oversees their composition and the integration of new members. Typically the groups range from 6-20 people and offer the opportunity to explore your interests, share common concerns, help one another, love, learn, laugh, serve, reach out and grow.

Whether you want to investigate Christianity in a safe environment, grow with other new Christians, serve with people who have similar interests and talents or get to know other people, there's a Life Group with an open chair waiting for you.
