Becoming A Christ-Follower

The Bible tells us that God loved the world so much that he sent Jesus to love us and draw us back into relationship with him. And if we believe in Jesus Christ we may be called children of God (John 1:12; 3:16-17).

We are created for the purpose of loving and serving God. We were created to enjoy a personal relationship with God and given the responsibility of caring for His creation.

The problem is most people ignore God's living invitation and pay a personal price, and lose sight of our creative purposes. The Bible also states that when our relationship with God isn't right, it spills over into every other area of life: family, careers, relationships, finances, and the very health of creation.

In the most amazing event in history, Jesus came to this earth to reconcile us to God, to each other and to creation; and so re-orient our lives that we would live for His purposes and to His glory. Jesus said that he is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6) and that he is the only way to be in right relationship with the God. The good news is that God has done everything necessary to restore and establish a relationship with Him. He took the initiative and waits for us accept His gift of grace and eternal life He offers. Will you?

  • Believe that Jesus, God's son, died for your sins and rose from the dead
    (Romans 6:6-8; 1 Corinthians 15:1-11).

  • Accept God's forgiveness, and turn away from your sins
    (Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; 1 John 1:9).

  • By faith, receive Jesus Christ the Saviour and Lord of your life
    (Romans 10:9-13).

  • Publicly share your commitment to Christ with others
    (Matthew 10:32; Luke 8:38-39).

Becoming a follower of Jesus Christ, a Christian, is the act of receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and choosing to accept His claim on your life. This may be a point of beginning for you, but it is a life-long journey of following Him. Deciding to become and then committing to living life as a Christian is a humbling experience. It is not done alone, but together with fellow-believers.
